NOVYI PODIL

Novyi Podil is a large mixed-use urban district on the bank of the Dnipro in Kyiv, weaving new fabric into the capital. It brings residential, commercial and public uses together into a city within a city, with an embankment of its own, cultural venues and public infrastructure.

The defining architectural element is a set of large cantilevers, which give the development its silhouette and leave volumes overhanging the streets and pedestrian areas below.

The embankment matters particularly: about a kilometre of open public space with planting, places to sit, cultural events and access to the water. It ties the district into the Dnipro landscape and gives the city a new place to gather.
